Every week we draft a new top five, and every week we use something going on around us as motivation, or encouragement to make the list. This week we saw the mirage of the heat and the only thing we could think was summer. It’s here and it’s hot, so let’s talk our top summer things.

Top Summer Things

Alex’s Top Five:

  1. Beach Vacation: When I think of summer, I think of a vacatiom, and what better vacation, than a beach vacation. The sun, the sand, the surf. What’s not to love? The beach perfectly embodies the summer season, and is the perfect place for a summer vacation.
  2. Waterparks: Whether it’s Six Flags or Schlitterbahn, waterparks are an essential part of staying cool in the summer. Some may think they’re gross, but what can’t a little chlorine not fix. Waterparks can be day trips, or full fledge hot spots for vacationing in the summer.
  3. School’s Out: Alice Cooper said it right, we got no class, well I’m an adult, but the kids are out, and that makes everything more fun. Think back to when you were a child and you were counting down the days to kick it with nothing to do. Those were the days. School being out for the summer, is an easy one to add to this list.
  4. Camping: Everyone may not like camping, thats fine. It truthfully isn’t something that everyone enjoys. For me, camping is fun, and best in the summer, because frankly you’re not cold. Whether it’s in a tent or in a hammock under the stars, camping is best in the summer.
  5. Fishing: A lot of hunting is done early in the morning and when it’s fairly colder seasons. Fishing, can be done, anytime, anywhere. The fish being there aren’t even a requirement. Fishing is an excuse to hang out in, relaxing in the open air, and learning patience. Afterall, what’s fishing without it taking all day?

Christian’s Top Five:

  1. Vacation: Generalizing a vacation to give yourself options is smart. You aren’t stuck just going to the beach over the summer, you can go anywhere, and do anything. Summer often gives the ability to go on vacation and that is as important as anything else.
  2. Weather: While also encompassing hurricane season, the weather in the summer livens up everything. The weather makes it possible to go to the beach, or vacation, it gives a waterpark a reason to open, and if you don’t like the weather, at least around here, give it 20 minutes, it’ll likely change.
  3. July 4th: Independence Day is a part in the USA. Everyone is going somewhere, whether it’s to a party or a event, something is going down. Get your American Flag gear, most likely your favorite booze, and enjoy what your four fathers got you.
  4. Barbecue: Think of summer, okay now that you’ve thought of barbecue, you know why it made the cut. You can almost smell the barbecue in the air over the summer. Someone is always grilling something and when it’s nice out, why cook inside?
  5. More Daylight: The summer brings out the longest days of the year, and frankly, we’re here for it. I hate the sun setting at 5-6PM, and having more daylight gives you the ease of staying out later, making plans AFTER work, and it generally opens the door for a more social social life.

Let us know what you think of our Top 5 this week!
